Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is the most frequently used method for easing anxiety in pediatric dental offices.  A  plastic 'flavored nose' is placed over the child's nose and he/she smells the 'sweet air'.

The gas reduces the child's gag reflex, pain and anxiety and makes them feel more relaxed.  Most  kids are focused on the television on the ceiling so many are distracted anyway.
